Swedish Team Lineup: Alexander Isak Selected While Gyokeres Misses Out
The striker moved to Arsenal after leaving Sporting in July
Gunners forward Viktor Gyokeres was left out in the new manager's initial Swedish national squad, whereas Reds striker the talented attacker has earned selection
The Arsenal forward is set for additional medical tests in the coming days following worries of a thigh issue during Arsenal's English top flight win against the Clarets on Saturday
Gyokeres was absent from the Gunners' European success versus Slavia Prague earlier this week
Isak Back in Action
The Liverpool striker, absent from action since 22 October because of muscle issues, was selected for the World Cup fixtures versus the Swiss team (15 November) and the Slovenian side (November 18th)
Other England-based Inclusions
- Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
- Magpies winger Anthony Elanga
Both athletes were included in Potter's Premier League contingent named by former multiple English clubs manager the new Swedish coach
The New Manager's Role
The English manager took over by Sweden initially temporarily on 20 October, less than a month after his departure from West Ham
Previous coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was fired after Sweden's 1-0 loss to the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result that made direct progression in Group B impossible
Current Position
The Swedish team are currently last place of Group B having just a single point in their opening four games
Even if they don't manage to secure second place, they may yet take part in the secondary qualification as a result of their results in the most recent UEFA competition
